David is a highly experienced international executive, business leader and innovator.

With a passion for developing young people, David seeks out opportunities to create jobs and training opportunities in highly skilled technical roles. Phytome being the epitome of rural high-tech job creation in Cornwall, where David and his family have spent decades building businesses.

David currently holds positions as Chairman of Prodrive, and Motorsport UK and formerly at Aston Martin.  He has also acted as team principal of the BAR and Benetton Formula One motor racing teams.

In the 2005 New Year Honours List David was appointed a CBE for his services to motorsport and in 2017 was inducted into the Motor Sport Hall of Fame and received the Spirit of Le Mans award from the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO). In 2019 he received the Autocar Outstanding Leader Award.
